Age class

To estimate the age of forest stands, the age of trees is divided into age classes, where the age class interval depends on the tree species.
Forest stands and stock volume by main tree species and age classes.

Tree species

Coniferous trees

Includes spruce and pine.

Softwood deciduous trees

Includes birch, black alder, grey alder and aspen.

Hardwood deciduous trees

Includes oak and ash.
